About Yummy Yoga Mummies
 
Yummy Yoga Mummies is ran by Caron Millard who has been a Registered Midwife for 22 years and who has a vast wealth of experience to share with you. Caron has worked in both the UK as well as abroad and lectures internationally on a regular basis about various midwifery issues. Caron is also a qualified Hypnobirthing Instructor, Antenatal Yoga Teacher, Baby Massage & Yoga Instructor, Aromatherapist and Fitness Instructor holding  specialist qualifications to teach antenatal and postnatal yoga exercises. Caron has been a Supervisor of Midwives for many years and has been teaching safe and effective exercise to pregnant mothers for 18 years now. She has a degree in Womens' Health and your safety and your baby's safety are her main priorities  and concerns.

Caron has a personal passion to also improve the care provided to mothers and babies on a global basis, and has lectured in countries as far away as South Africa, Norway, Holland and the Caribbean when she has recently hosted an International Conference which attracted delegates from nineteen countries across the globe.

About Caron
I have two sons, Tom aged 20 and Jack aged 17. I took up exercise when I got pregnant with my first son Tom and continued to exercise safely throughout both of my pregnancies.
 
Because I found that exercising made me feel so much better about myself and really helped me to cope with my pregnancy and birth, I wanted to share the benefits of it with the mothers I was caring for as a midwife, and so I decided to bite the bullet and take a course to allow me to teach Aquanatal Classes, which I did in 1993 and since then I have never looked back.
 
I have always had a strong interest in encouraging mothers to exercise whilst pregnant and ran both Aquanatal and Aquarobic Classes in Birmingham for 14 years before I moved to live in Antigua in the Caribbean in 2005. Whilst living in Antigua I continued to teach exercise on a regular basis including Spinning, Circuit Training and Antenatal Yoga Classes.
 
I have worked as midwife full time since 1991 and was a Midwifery Sister both on the Labour Ward and in the Community for many years. Since moving back to the UK I have worked as a Project Midwife at the West Midlands Perinatal Institute and am currently working as a Community Midwife in the Ladywood and Winson Green areas of Birmingham.

I am passionate about helping mothers and fathers to achieve the birth of their choice, supporting them as much as they need me to along their journey. Over the years I have found that practising antenatal yoga breathing and hypnobirthing techniques are two of the most effective and safest ways around to help parents to achieve the calm, serene and intimate birth that they desire.

Being a parent is a position of great importance and responsibility and you need to be supported well in this role, and though many mothers will come to antenatal yoga and hypnobirthing classes for a calm and gentle birth for themselves, it also means a calm and gentle birth for your baby too. And consider this, a baby who enters the world drug free and alert, and who is greeted by a mother who is also drug free and alert, as well as loving and confident, starts life and forms his or her first relationship in this world in the best way possible. This is the clear blueprint for any other relationship he or she forms throughout his or her life and so has an effect on everyone that he or she  meets throughout his or her life. The significance of this cannot be over-estimated and much research is being carried out on this very topic at the moment.

The Classes

At the start of all of her classes, time is set aside within the group, where everyone has a chance to ask about any concerns or worries that they might have about their pregnancy or their impending birth. As such an experienced midwife, Caron usually has most the answers, but if not she will refer you to the appropriate person who will be able to help you and has been known to get Consultant appointments for ladies the following day where she has had grave concerns. She also allows time at the end of the class for anything that you may feel too personal or shy to ask in a group situation.

Once you are attending Caron's Antenatal Yoga or Hypnobirthing Classes you also have access to Caron via phone, email or text to answer any of your questions or concerns, and as you get to see her on a weekly basis and really get to know each other, many ladies see Caron as their "second midwife" which they find extremely beneficial and reassuring. It is this personal service and individualized care and attention that sets Caron's classes apart from the rest as you get so much more than your regular antenatal yoga or antenatal exercise class ........it is more like a complete pregnancy and birth course with your own private midwife.

In addition to all of this, many new and long lasting friendships are formed within the classes, with lots of mums.......and dads meeting up afterwards with their new babies, and some groups even having started their own Facebook Page to support each other through those first few months of life with their new babies where they share tips and advice with each other as they become more confident in their parenting skills.
